Chiltern League - Under 13's
Adeyfield Dragons 12
- 12 Hatfield Comets
New Green Gladiators 32 - 20 Grovehill Tigers

St Albans Centurions two cluster clubs, Hatfield Comets  and New Greens Gladiators rounded off a magnificent season by finishing first and second in the 2007/08 Chiltern League.  Both teams are in their first year of playing rugby league against more established clubs, so their achievements of finishing as the top two clubs cannot be denied.  The Comets went into their last game of the season knowing that their victory last week had already clinched the title, but it was a bit of a disappointment when the game at Hemel Hempstead against the Adeyfield Dragons had to be called off because of a frozen pitch.  Under the rules, when no team is at fault for a cancellation, both teams are awarded 1 point each.  However, things could not have been more different for the Gladiators, who went into their last game against Grovehill Tigers.  Both teams were in joint second place with not only the same points, but also the same points difference, so whoever won would take second place - and what a game it was, with no quarter given or taken.  Coach Paul Malloney said he could not say enough about the boys, who played  for each other as a team but were also capable of putting together brilliant individual moves.  At the end of the game, The Gladiators were deserved winners and celebrated with their 'machine gun' victory move.Coach Malloney said it wasn't fair to pick out individuals, but special mention should go to Aaron the hand off king, Luke the speed freak, Big Dan who just got back from his holidays this morning and came straight to the game from the airport and Callum who had a great debut.

The play offs, to find the Chiltern League Major Premiers, will be on Sat 23rd February when the Champions play the fourth placed team at Colney heath, kick off 11am and the runners up play the third placed team at Hemel Hempstead.  The Grand Final is on 1st March.  Wouldn't it be great if both our teams could meet in the Grand Final!!!
