St Albans Centurions Presentation night will be held on the 18th September form 7pm - 11pm at £10 per person, this includes a buffet meal. The event is for both Juniors and Seniors, everyone is invited, please make known wether you wish to attend by email |
A coach to Derby will be leaving the clubhouse at 10.30 am on Sunday the 12th September. There are 28 seats available for supporters on the team coach at £10 per person |
Centurions rack up the points
St Albans Centurions 74 -V- 14 Portsmouth Navy Seahawks

This game was played in 30 degrees of heat. It started at a very fast rate. In the 8th minute the Seahawks gave away 2 penalties this allowed the Cents to gain 50 metres.From the tap a drive by Roy Dube and a quick play the ball allowed stand in second row Rudie van der Merwe to dance through the Seahawks defence. It was the Seahawks turn to attack the Cents line when they through out a wild pass which was intercepted by Rudie van der Merwe who raced 30 metres the back up came from Adam Kal and Ollie Fountain, Van Der Merwe drew the fullback and an inside pass to Ollie Fountain who raced under the black dot. From the kick off the forwards made 50 metres and on the 3rd play the ball Adam Kal sent a pass out wide for Darren Westhead to run onto the pass and scored in the corner. After the 1st water break the Cents lost their composure and the defensive line was caught short out wide and the Seahawk fullback Ascci Lutu went in for a try. The the Seahawks were penalised for not playing the ball correct and from the tap the Cents captain Paul Maloney broke the Seahawks defence to score. Then with 5 minutes left of the first half Aaron Brown crossed for his first Cents try to give the Centurions a 28 - 4 lead.

So with a sweltering weekend the Centurions first and second teams both had home fixtures, results as follows;

Centurions see off the Sharks
St Albans Centurions 52 -V- 44 West London Sharks

Defence were secondary as St Albans defeated West London Sharks. The tit - for - tat encounter began on the opening drive, Adam Kambouris crossing, but West edged ahead with Peter Scotney's first try and a conversion and penalty from John Duffy. A Darren Westhead touchdown in the 22nd minute and Andy John goal put the Cents back in front before fullback Peter Scotney crossed again.
Cents player/coach Shane Rampling and West Terence Puna exchanged tries and the game was level 20 all at the break with Adam Kal's score for Cents. Paul Maloney increased the lead, Peter Scotney pegging it back with his hat trick score. Roy Dube crashed over for the Cents, a Blake Milner try and John Duffy goal seeing the score 32 -30. Two tries in three minutes just after the hour mark from Brett Welsh and Ollie Fountain put the Cents in the driving seat, hooker Blake Milner's second touchdown again hauling West's back. Another 2 try burst as the visitors tied - from Dan Hensby and Ollie Fountain - secured the spoils but the West's battled gamely to the end. Craig Krugar claiming the 17th touchdown of the afternoon.
With the Season now at the Half-Way point the Centurions lead the table, joint top with Hammersmith only the Cents superior points difference separating the teams.
