Centurions claim victory in opening game
Portsmouth Seahawks 28 v 38 St Albans Centurions

St Albans opened their 2010 season with a trip to the south coast. The first 15 minutes both teams made basic errors and it was the Seahawks who broke the deadlock scoring in the 16th minute when the Seahawk fullback was able to break through some poor tackling to score under the black dot. The try was converted. It took the Centurions until the 20th minute to open up their account when the Seahawks were penalised on the Centurions last tackle for a high tackle on Shane Rampling. Cents took a quick tap and quickly shifted the ball down the line to send winger Alan Petty in at the corner. With 5 minutes to half time the Cents took the lead when stand off Matt O’ Rourke dived over from a quick play the ball and Brett Walsh converted. Cents waiting for the half time fell asleep and allowed the Seahawk to score under the post which they converted.
Junior Round up 1st May
Juniors note that the games and kick-off times for 8th May are as follows;
U13 v Croydon at St Joseph College Beulah Hill London SE19 3HL ko 1130am
U16 v Hemel at Hemel ko 1130am
Hainault 44 v 0 St Albans Centurions U16's
The 16s traveled to the undefeated bulldogs knowing a win would put the level on points with there hosts.Unfortunately the cents fielded a weakened team due to injuries and unavailability and were beat 44-0.Although the scoreline suggests a one sided affair the cents boys gave everything and were unlucky not to score on occasions.Big games were had by sam shynne,daniel hedison,ben doherty and luke fiacca.Next Saturday the boys face their local rivals hemel at hemel with a 1130 ko.
St Albans Centurions U13's 8 v 22 Elmbridge
Juniors Round up 25th April
St Albans Centurions U12's 6 V 16 Greenwich
The unders 12s took on a very experienced and big greenwich team on sat loosing a close fought contest 16-6.Not having a game for 5 weeks didnt help the young cents boys finding their rythum and this resulted in alot of dropped ball early.Only for last minute tackling from james cummins,sean thomas and kerry hodges preventing greenwich from scoring.Cents took the lead thru a 50m run by mishaiak konia converted by jake purdy.With cents loosing 3 players to injury greenwich pulled away with 4 trys to seal the win.Well done lads with more players back from holiday and injury next week, they should do really well against elmbridge at home.
