Centurions replaced Ashford club in London League Divison 2, and progressed to the 2nd round of the knockout competitions.
Agreement with Old Verulainums
01 July 1997
Centurions signed a membership agreement with Old Verulamians RU Club to secure ground sharing giving us a firm base, offering good facilities for both players and sponsors
Blackpool 9s
01 August 1997
Centurions became the first Southern Club to compete in the Blackpool 9s event for 10 years.
Runners up in League
01 September 1997
In September 1997, Centurions competed in London League Division 2 - finishing runners up to Kingston.
Rugby League Development Team
01 November 1997
Centurions Rugby League Development team is established with the aim of establishing a junior and schools programme.
Summer Rugby League Conference
01 December 1997
Application to join the Summer Rugby League Conference accepted, a nationally run competition which we will be at the forefront of the Rugby League Development Programme.

U13s competed in Festival Rugby League and also in the London Junior Competition. Centurions hosted a hugely successful festival with 7 junior teams competing from as far afield as Ipswich and Crawley. London and the South U17s representative squad contains 6 players from St Albans. Ex Centurions juniors, Kyle Birkin and Mark Cullen move on to play for the London Broncos at their respective age groups. Clubs stature continues to grow with Ken Edwards and Gary Tetlow being appointed as assistant coach and manager, respectively of the London and South U17s team to play New South Wales, and Marcus Tobin appointed as coach for Oxford University.
